Dr. Dennis C. Dickerson

The Reverend Dennis C. Dickerson, Ph.D. is an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Bishop Richard Allen Hildebrand ordained him in the New York Annual Conference at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in New York City as an itinerant deacon and at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Buffalo, New York as an itinerant elder. He recalls that Bishop Donald George Kenneth Ming preached the ordination sermon at his first ordination and Bishop Decatur Ward Nichols preached the ordination sermon at his second ordination.

  • INTERIM MINISTER/PASTOR, SECOND CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, PITTSFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS - Bishop Richard Allen Hildebrand officially loaned, appointed, and re-appointed Dr. Dickerson to this congregation for three (3) consecutive years.
  • PASTOR, PAYNE AFRICAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, CHATHAM, NEW YORK - Bishop Richard Allen Hildebrand and Bishop Frank C. Cummings appointed and re-appointed Dr. Dickerson to this congregation where he served for five (5) consecutive years.
  • PASTOR, ST. MARK AFRICAN METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, MUNFORD, TENNESSEE - Bishop C. E. Thomas appointed and re-appointed Dr. Dickerson to this congregation where he served for two (2) consecutive years prior to his election as a General Officer. During this pastorate he invited Bishop Thomas to officiate at laying of the cornerstone for the newly completed church building.

All three Bishops from whom Dr. Dickerson received pastoral appointments hailed from the same states where his parents were born. His mother was born in South Carolina, the same state where Bishop Hildebrand was born. His father was born in Alabama, the same state where Bishop Cummings and Bishop Thomas were born.
